Which scanner should I purchase for my operations?

The centralized imaging system supports many different scanners that are suitable for imaging normal business documents. This guide was created to give you an idea of the scanners and options that might be considered if you plan to do your own scanning or need to replace an existing scanner.

What are the system requirements to run ImageNow 6.1.6 and WebNow 6.1.6?

This document outlines the system requirements and other technical specifications needed to run ImageNow 6.1.6 and WebNow 6.1.6.

Users whose workstations have the ImageNow "fat client" installed on the desktop (primarily scanning/linking workstations) should refer to the section of the document titled "ImageNow Client".

Most users should refer to the section titled "WebNow Client". Computers running WebNow will need to have either Java 1.5x or 2.6.x installed on the desktop.

Which browsers are supported by WebNow 6.1.6?

WebNow 6.1.6 runs on Windows XP Professional SP2 or SP3, Vista and Macintosh Intel versions 10.4 or 10.5 running a platform-compatible browser that supports Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5.x or 1.6.x.

Note: For those running Java 1.5.x, version 1.5.13 is recommended. For Java 1.6.x, all version up to 1.6.7 are supported. Vista requires Java version 1.6.

A high-speed Internet connection is required.

How do I get the Java plug-in for my Windows computer?

A Java 1.5x or 1.6x plug-in must be installed on computers used to access WebNow. If you have administrative rights on your computer, the Java plug-in will automatically install the first time you log into WebNow on Wolverine Access. If you don't have administrative rights on your computer, you will see a blank screen the first time you log into WebNow. Your desktop support staff will have to download Java for Windows computers.

This document provides instructions for updating the CaptureNow software on workstations that are running the ImageNow "fat client" for scanning and linking documents. .

Hardware profile worksheet

This worksheet will help you capture relevant hardware profile information in case you need to reinstall CaptureNow software, install new scanners, etc. Go into Settings --> Options --> Scanning Profile. Click the Properties tab and write down the settings on the worksheet under "scanner properties." Click the Option tab and write down the settings on the worksheet under "source properties."

ImageNow 6.1.6 Client Software

All "fat client" installations must have ImageNow version 6.1.6 installed on departmental workstations. For the majority of units on campus, system administrators or desktop support staff in your unit will need to install the client.

In addition, system administrators or other desktop support staff need to add ‘https://imaging.umich.edu’ as a trusted site for their WebNow customers to be able to open Word or Excel documents in Internet Explorer.
